何鴻燊博士是港澳著名的企業家,一直熱心公益,積極推動教育、文化、藝術、體育,以及其他社區服務。現任中國人民政治協商會議第十一屆全國委員會常務委員。
何博士為香港上市公司信德集團有限公司集團行政主席及澳門博彩控股有限公司主席;1984年至今,連任香港地產建設商會會長,致力推動香港經濟發展。
在澳門,他是澳門博彩股份有限公司行政總裁、澳門旅遊娛樂股份有限公司總經理,並獲委任為澳門特別行政區政府經濟發展委員會成員及澳門基金會信託委員會委員。
本著「取諸社會,用諸社會」的態度,何博士大力支持各項慈善活動。他擔任香港公益金名譽副會長、香港演藝學院友誼社贊助人、香港大學教研發展基金永遠榮譽主席、香港理工大學顧問委員會創會委員、香港理工大學發展基金創會永遠榮譽主席,以及香港女童軍總會副會長等。在澳門,何博士為澳門大學校董會成員、澳門科技大學校董會榮譽主席、鏡湖醫院慈善會副主席、何鴻燊博士醫療拓展基金會信託委員會主席,以及澳門中華文化藝術協會永遠榮譽會長。
何博士致力支持文化藝術事業,並積極促進港澳地區與內地及其他國家的文化交流。他除了是香港藝術節及香港芭蕾舞團的主要贊助人外,更曾多次邀請著名的中國國家芭蕾舞團在香港及澳門演出,又贊助在北京舉行的「中法文化年」、「中國與葡萄牙文化關係展」,以及在香港舉行的「希尼國際芭蕾舞比賽」。何博士身體力行,多年來,參與不少慈善演出,包括唱歌、跳舞、演說、話劇和粵劇等,出錢出力,為活動籌得更多善款。
何博士於1990年成立了何鴻燊航天科技人才培訓基金會,並出任其理事長。作為北京2008年奧運會申辦委員會顧問及澳門特區的奧運火炬手,何博士捐資興建水立方,並贊助北京奧運馬術比賽香港基金。一直以來,他熱心於扶貧賑災,包括捐資廣東省的貧困孤兒,協助受天災影響的人民重建家園,並大力支持教育發展。
何博士熱愛中華文化,通過贊助和舉辦不同的文化、藝術活動,反映中華文化的多元一體,宣揚愛國愛民族的意識。他捐資支持北京興建中華世紀壇,並向國家捐贈圓明園豬首和馬首銅像。
香港特別行政區政府向何博士頒授「金紫荊星章」。在澳門,他先後獲澳門特別行政區政府授予「金蓮花榮譽勳章」及「大蓮花榮譽勳章」。此外,他亦獲內地多個城市如北京、廣州等授予榮譽市民銜。澳門與葡萄牙分別有一條大馬路以其名字命名。
何博士相繼獲澳門大學、香港大學、香港理工大學及香港公開大學授予榮譽博士學位;同時,他也是香港演藝學院榮譽院士、英國皇家舞蹈學院院士。國際方面,他因促進港澳繁榮及與其他國家的友好關係、經濟合作及文化交流,屢獲海外各地政府頒授榮譽勳銜,包括葡萄牙,英國、法國、西班牙、日本、馬來西亞及羅馬宗座等。
2009年6月,他分別獲授G2E Asia卓越遠見成就獎,以表揚其對博彩業及亞洲地區發展的貢獻,以及萬寶龍國際藝術贊助大獎,感謝其對文化藝術的慷慨支持。
Dr Stanley Ho Hung Sun, a renowned entrepreneur in Hong Kong and Macau, is known for his philanthropic generosity and active participation in the promotion of arts and culture, education and other community services. He is presently a Standing Committee member of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
In Hong Kong, he is the Chairman of the publicly listed Shun Tak Holdings Limited and SJM Holdings Limited, and has been the President of The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong since 1984, dedicated to the development of the economy.
In Macau, he is the Managing Director of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S A (SJM) and Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau, S A (STDM), and has been appointed a member of the Economic Development Council of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) government and a trustee of Macau Foundation.
Adhering to the principle of ‘from society to society’, Dr Ho supports many activities for the benefit of the community. He is Vice Patron of The Community Chest of Hong Kong, Patron of the Society of the Academy for Performing Arts, Honorary Lifetime Chairman of The University of Hong Kong Foundation for Educational Development and Research, Founding Member of the Court of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Founding Honorary Lifetime Chairman of the PolyU Development Foundation, and Vice President of The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association. In Macau, he is Council Member of the University of Macau, Honorary Chair of the Council of Macao University of Science and Technology, Vice President of Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, Chairman of the Trustee Board of Dr Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation, and Permanent Honorary President of the Association of Chinese Culture and Art of Macau.
Dr Ho is dedicated to promoting arts and culture and strengthening cross cultural exchanges between Hong Kong, Macau, China and other countries. He is a regular supporter of the Hong Kong Arts Festival and Hong Kong Ballet. He brought the world renowned National Ballet of China to perform in Hong Kong and Macau, and sponsored international cultural events, such as the ‘Year of France in China’ and ‘Portugal Meets China’ held in Beijing, and the Genée International Ballet Competition in Hong Kong. In addition to financial support, he has also taken part in a variety of performances, such as dancing, singing, public speaking, drama, and Chinese opera. His charming appeals have helped to raise more funds for the charities.
In 1990, Dr Ho founded the Stanley Ho Astronautics Training Foundation, and is its Trustee. An advisor to Beijing’s 2008 Olympic Games Bidding Committee and one of the Olympic Torch Runners in Macau, he contributed to the construction of the National Aquatics Centre and the Beijing Olympic Equestrian Events in Hong Kong. Over the years, his helping hand has been stretched to various sectors of society, including donations to the orphans in Guangdong, relief aids to the victims of natural disasters, and sponsorships for the development of education. Dr Ho is dedicated to the promotion of Chinese culture with an aim to foster the patriotic spirit. He contributed to the construction of the China Century Monument in Beijing, and purchased the bronze pig head and horse head of Yuanmingyuan to return to China.
He was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR government, and the Grand Lotus Medal of Honour and the Golden Lotus Medal of Honour by the Macau SAR government. In China, he was awarded honorary citizenships by a number of cities, including Beijing and Guangzhou. Macau and Portugal each has an avenue named after him. He holds honorary doctoral degrees from the University of Macau, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Open University of Hong Kong. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Dance in the United Kingdom. With his international profile, Dr Ho received a number of decorations and honours from governments around the world, including Portugal, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Spain, Japan, Malaysia, the Papal Insignia and others. In June 2009, he was awarded the G2E Asia Visionary Award for his contribution to the Asian gaming market and to the region’s development and growth, and the Hong Kong Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award for his philanthropic generosity in the promotion of arts and culture.
